We have been on a parallel one, which has helped us to have more compassion for both the weaknesses driving colonialism as well as those of us colonised that adapted to it in not-quite coherent and Allah aligned ways.

Indigenising and grounding again, away from Graeco-modern floating addictions to abstractions, and revitalising the community of women (re: midwifery, herbs, hearth protection, weakness in men detecting/protecting, bedroom affairs) that Western Puritans only had the capacity to scapegoat or suppress.

Islam doesn't have to adopt Western false dualities that are clear fruit in modernity... or at least the Qur'an doesn't. Modernity may be showing the errors within Islam in relation to consistency with the Qur'an as well.

Salaam.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2119185586095311382.post-29431133546448989522013-01-08T07:51:58.594-05:002013-01-08T07:51:58.594-05:00Salam Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa baraktuhu Sister,
...Salam Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa baraktuhu Sister,

Thank you for writing this post... I as well agree 100% you are right on point with your statements :-D...I too WAS that beauty driven, fashion hijabi blogger thinking I am benefiting myself and my sisters, when in fact I was keeping up appearances (playing into the game) for the Kafir. I have deleted all those blogs, tweets, and facebook associated with that non-sense and have focused more on Islam.

As you stated in your last paragraph: "We all complain and cry that we can't get along. We start wars and fight each other because we are obsessed with our pride. We want money, power, status. We think we are strong and powerful. We rule the world like we are the only ones living on it. We pollute the earth, we corrupt the youth, we follow our desires. We think about fashion, beauty, and material wealth. We forget about our sisters and brothers who suffer half way across the world because we are too busy causing trials and tribulations amongst each other. We think we have it all. We think we are the strongest creatures on the face of this earth. We fear the creation rather than the Creator. But what we fail to realise is just one violent wind storm ,earthquake, snowfall.. and we are humbled. One disease affecting our lungs, our brain, our heart...and we are humbled. One calamity where we are stripped of our wealth, our status, our power...we are humbled. We are born weak and we will die weak. Human being's biggest mistake is thinking they have ALL the power in the world. We think we don't need Allah, but the truth is, without HIM we are NOTHING, NOBODY, ZERO. So why do we keep fooling ourselves? We think everything belongs to us. But only do we belong to Allah, and to Him we will return. We think that we run the show . Forever and always, the world is ours. But it is only because we think this way, that I ask everyone,What has Islam become?"

This should not be taken lightly and be as a reminder that our live here on Earth is only for a fleeting moment.

Jazak'Allah Khairan Sister :-D

P.S I enjoy your blog and now a follower...keep up the excellent work.Cassandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14379262451138775295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2119185586095311382.post-52361700667087891342013-01-06T11:32:47.573-05:002013-01-06T11:32:47.573-05:00Salam Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa baraktuhu,

Sometimes I am disheartened and shocked by the way they act. Insha'allah, Allah will keep us strong to follow the ways that He has ordered us to follow.

Though we do have to bear in mind that there is nothing wrong with wearing make-up, perfume, and nice clothes for our husbands, and we should be encourage to do so. Outside of the home, now that is a different story.

Masha'allah, lovely post as always. Umm Ahmadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10111144211808883460noreply@blogger.com
