The Day of Ashura.- 10th of Muharram

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu,

There is no doubt that Allah's Mercy is constantly showering us each and every day. I love the months after Ramadan because He still blesses us with so much opportunity to continue in our streaks of good deeds for His sake and His sake alone.

The Islamic new year has approached us and during this month of Muharram, we are yet blessed with another great opportunity to fast, in hopes that Allah will expiate our sins. This year Ashura will be on THIS coming Saturday insha'Allah (please correct me if I'm wrong!) and Ashura, means "ten" in Arabic!

Provided are the Authentic Hadith about the benefits of fasting on the Day of Ashura!

May Allah forgive us and grant us His mercy in this dunya, in our graves, and on the Day of Judgement...Ameen. I don't know about you, but I definitely need it!

I just also wanted to warn you all, about some of the Rafidah (Shia). I tried to attach a lovely photo of "The day of Ashura" but to my horror I found a bunch of Shia drenched in blood holding some sort of weapon and hitting their heads and bodies astughfurAllah. This bidaa'h is UNACCEPTABLE and is clearly not prescribed in the Qur'an or Sunnah. So for anyone who is new to Islam and wanting to know more about the Day of Ashura, what you see in those disturbing photos is NOT part of Islam!!!!

On the authority of Abu Sa'eed al-khudaree –Rahiallaahu anhu-  said that the
Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said; 'Whoever fasts the day of Arafat he is forgiven for the following year and the previous year. And whoever fasts 'Ashura then he is forgiven the year.'
{Narrated by Tabaranee with an isnaad which is Hasan. confirmed by Noble Sheikh Albani}

On the authority of Ibn Abbas –Rahiallaahu anhu-  'That the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- never aspired for the excellence of a day after ramadan; except the day of 'Ashura.' {Narrated by Tabaranee in 'al-Awasat', and its isnaad is Hasan with the isnad before it. confirmed by Noble Sheikh Albani}

On the authority of Abu Qataada -RadhiAllaahu anhu- that the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- was asked about the fast of the day of ‘Ashura, so he answered: 'It expiates the sins of the previous year.' Narrated by Muslim and other than him, and by Ibn Majah and his wording is:
'The fast of the day of ‘Ashura; Indeed the reward that I request from Allaah is that He expiates the sins of the year before this year.'

1251. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) observed Saum (fasting) on the day of `Ashura' and commanded us to fast on this day.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary:  `Ashura' 10th of Muharram. In another Hadith, it is stated that when the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) emigrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah, he saw that the Jews were fasting on this day. He asked them why they did this on that day, and they told him that they did it for the reason that Allah granted Prophet Musa emancipation from Pharaoh on this day, and so they observed Saum in token of their joy. On this, he (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said that in this happiness of Prophet Musa, Muslims have a greater right to observe Saum than the Jews. Consequently, he also observed Saum on 10th of Muharram. Then, he said that if he lived the following year, he would observe Saum on 9th of Muharram also so that they would make themselves different from the Jews. According to another Hadith, he (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) ordained the Muslims to observe Saum on `Ashura' and in addition one more Saum on 9th or 11th of Muharram in opposition to the Jews. (Musnad Ahmad, Vol.4, P-21, edited by Ahmad Shakir; and Mujamma` Az-Zawaid, Vol.3, P-188). Thus observance of two Saum on this occasion is a Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam). These two Saum can be observed either on 9th and 10th or 10th and 11th of Muharram. It is regrettable indeed that present-day Muslims do not follow this Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) and instead observe the baseless practices of mourning assemblies (Majalis), which is a grave sin practised by Shi`ah.

1252. Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about observing As-Saum (the fast) on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year.''
[Muslim].

1253. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram.''
[Muslim].

Commentary: Some people think these words stand to mean that `he will observe Saum on the 9th of Muharram only. But this interpretation does not agree with other Ahadith. In order to oppose the Jews, he (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) resolved to observe one more Saum with that of 10th of Muharram and ordained it for the Muslims. In this connection, we have quoted above the authority from Musnad Ahmad. Hence, the meanings we have given in the translation of the text are correct.

May Allah accept our fast and grant us with His Mercy and Forgiveness because this sad, weak Ummah really really needs it. Ameen

Guest Post : The Hijab...The Controversy & everything in between

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu, well here is another lovely guest post from one of my closest sisters in Islam. You can check our her lovely blog here and please do follow http://pinkeman.blogspot.com/

In follow up to my latest post, here is another explanation on Hijab and the issues that lie in today's Ummah. We can't be reminded enough about it, so might as well remind you all again!
Enjoy!

Guest Post : by Amira.

The Hijab…The Controversy….and everything in between
Assalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu,
First of all I want to say a HUGE JAZAKILLAHU KHAYRAN to my beloved Sister Khadijah aka Twinsie ;) to give me a little voice on her amazing blog Mashaa Allah.
First of I would like to start off with a little WARNING!!!
I Pray this post will not be long and Inshaa Allah not offend any of my sisters out there, also I am no knowledgeable sister trying to pass my own fatwas as I am just another passerby and sinner in this world, I am just speaking out on the sad state to which our hijab has been brought to, I am human and not perfect so I am not telling you that “I am Holier than thou”, I am simply sharing a random thought running through my head that can serve as a reminder firstly to me and any other Muslimah out there who thinks this post is worth reading….Recently I was able to read a very insightful post by Sister Khadijah on her blog regarding Hijab and it really caught my attention Mashaa Allah. She did a great job like always Mashaa Allah. Please do not think I am sucking up to her because she is so dear to me or because I am posting on her blog. It is just a sincere thought that I had to put out in the open.
Now for the main deal Inshaa Allah…First of all there is a lot of controversy about hijab in Islam lately but not that there are no other important issues out there we need to post about, but there is always a space for reminders when you feel things are going wrong with certain things…I will not get into the details to save you from reading through the same points Sister Khadijah has already mentioned…Let us try to evaluate ourselves a little please….Is Hijab a commitment you make with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala or is it simply another fashion accessory trying to please the creations of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala??? Don’t get me wrong but there is nothing bad in dressing up to look neat and presentable as many authentic Hadeeths talk about dressing well, but also not looking like a “Rich princess” or “America’s Next Top Model” strutting down the runway, let us not go overboard with the term dressing well and convert it to dressed to kill. I am sure for all covered Muslimahs out there including me, Hijab is like a Priceless crown gifted to us by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, so why do we bring it to low levels of this Dunya by making it a trendy fashion accessory that Muslim women wear??? Let us learn to respect the fact that the “Turban Style Hijab” which is all the rave in the Hijabi styling scene now is not Hijab because it does not cover your Bosoms aka Chest aka Bust as there are explicit verses in the Quran which talk about Hijab covering our chest area inclusive of your neck which is exposed in the “Turban Style Hijab”. But you know what Allah knows best and I am just another ordinary Muslimah sharing my thoughts on appropriate Hijab as I read in the Holy Quran and Authentic Hadeeths.
Many Sisters will say Allah looks what is in our hearts not our outward appearance which I do agree to a certain extent.  I mean you can be an amazingly kind “Trendy Hijabi” as compared to a “Hijab Guideline following rigid Hijabi” who may not be a pleasant personality to be with. Both of them are Human and they lack the good things that exist within each other, anyways who are we to judge right??? No one is perfect after all. But are we really here to dress to impress??? Look like an haute couture Hijabi Model??? I confess fashion can be very interesting especially since we are girls but do we really have to be slaves to the western and eastern fashion trends??? Hasn’t Islam liberalized us from the shackles of this Dunya??? Not even a little bit??? I also agree some people make everything haram and many term them as the “Haram Police” Islam is a religion of ease where the middle path is the best path to be taken, where you do not slack off or be extremely “Everything is Haram in this world” person. Once again the term we do not slack off, Basic hijab guidelines must be followed or else where is the discipline that separates you from the Non-Muslims??? Is Islam a bunch of rituals or a complete way of life guidance to you??? I confess I like simple baggy t-shirts paired with a pair of jeans during the summer but I also know that my top or t-shirt have to be up to my knees or lower, not tight, not transparent and the list goes on. I also know wearing jewelry and other adornments like make up, perfume are not permissible when I go out so I had to make a choice whether to smell good and alluring to the passersby or just plain old smell nothing and everyone will ignore me, should I wear makeup and enhance my facial features to look attractive or look like a plain Jane who is not attractive??? I mean the man who wants to marry me will have to love me for me not the physical beauty I have to offer, I mean yes brothers like pretty girls to be their wives but if he is a true Muslim he will follow the guidelines of choosing a wife as mentioned in authentic hadeeths and if I fit all the qualities and I just end up being pretty, then that is the icing on the cake for him, but sincerely looks are the last thing any true Muslim should look for in a spouse. We all know being pretty and physically attractive is only temporary because after a few years the wrinkles will show up and you will look old and not so pretty in Dunya terms. Would we rather be a beautiful woman or a pretty woman??? Beauty is more eternal because, in my terms beauty is something that is within a person that reflects outwards and that is something no one can take away from your personality whereas being pretty or hot just lasts for a season…It is like a flower that will wither away before we know it. Oh by the way have you ever thought of all the damage and cancer you are inviting to your body in forms of cosmetics??? Did Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala give us all these guidelines for any apparent reason, or is it that Islam wants us to be cooped up in a tiny hole???
What happened to a little constructive criticism??? Why have we become so negative in just hearing out someone’s opinion??? No one is forcing their ideals down your throat…If anyone is then that person is not doing the right thing and needs to be corrected in a nice polite way as well…
Do we react negatively to anyone who criticizes us??? Does it mean there is some form of guilt kicking in somewhere??? Are we so hard headed that we do not want any ideas of good change???
Let us also remind ourselves that someone may speak out their opinion but since Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala being so Merciful and liberal gives us the freedom of choice. Either you can continue walking down the makeup haute couture Hijabi alley or tone it down a notch, follow the Islamic code of dressing but still keep you own little Muslimah identity minus the whole makeup, jewelry and hijab store on your face, wrists/fingers and head respectively. It’s so funny how we easily fall into the marketing schemes of marketers trying to sell a new Hijab or another Abaya as a hot new trend….I mean really are we that desperate we need some designers and trendsetters to tell us what’s hot and what’s not??? Are we easily giving into our nafs where the new watch you bought is actually a whole year’s salary for a poor family that feeds 10 mouths somewhere in the world??? Why are we making the rich richer and the poor more poorer??? Why do we die for the latest iphone or ipad which is sold as the same amount as someone’s house rent for the next 2 years somewhere around the world???
In short we are not only falling prey to fashion trends but technological drains and other worldly desires just the way shaytaan wants us to. I am sorry to make this long but I just wanted to generalize everything and how we have all become slaves to this dunya by some way or another. Please do not hate on a sister trying to give some friendly advice, just take it in a good stride and make your own choices as she did her part of reminding you and you do your part as you desire Inshaa Allah. Let us stop fighting amongst ourselves and respect each other’s positive characteristics accept our flaws. Stop having a feeling of being attacked because no one has the right to do that and if someone does just stay silent in the midst of your anger just like another Authentic Hadeeth tells us to. Shaytaan keeps trying to divide our ummah further and to an extent it is working. Let us learn from each other. We want peace for the world while we cannot even have peace within our Muslim Sisterhood and Ummah as a whole.
….A well-dressed (soul) in this world may be naked in the Hereafter. " ...

P.S I am by no means saying I am perfect just trying to reflect on my character as a Muslim and you are welcome to do the same with your life and journey

The Future of Hijab

the future of hijab?

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu,

WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST AND A DEDICATION TO ALL THE HIJABI BLOGGERS AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW THEM.  ( IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY SINCERITY, WRITING STYLE, and HONESTY . PLEASE SEE THIS POST "please don't waste my time, or yours")

HIJAB IS NOT A FASHION STATEMENT. HIJAB IS NOT AN ACCESSORY TO YOUR OUTFIT OF THE DAY. HIJAB IS NOT MEANT TO BE SEXY. HIJAB IS NOT A STATUS OF WEALTH. HIJAB IS NOT WEARING MAKEUP AND SMELLING ALLURING. HIJAB IS NOT SOMETHING YOU BEAUTIFY FOR NON-MAHRAMS.

HIJAB STARTS WITH FEARING ALLAH AND LEARNING FROM THE QUR'AN AND SUNNAH about what exactly is the purpose of hijab. KNOW YOUR ROLE, and LEARN YOUR RELIGION.

Islam means to submit and surrender to the one TRUE Creator. Why are these hijabi bloggers distorting the proper way of HIJAB with their 2012 Lady Gaga fancified version of Islamic dress?

REMINDER : I KNOW MANY OF YOU RESPOND DEFENSIVELY AND THE FIRST THING THAT YOU BLURT IS " YOU DON'T KNOW ME, DON'T JUDGE ME". WELL HERE'S MY RESPONSE TO YOUR LACKADAISICAL ATTITUDE: ALLAH WILL JUDGE YOU ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT FOR ALL THE SINS YOU SPREADED WITH YOUR BEAUTY. WE ARE NOT JUDGING YOU BUT MERELY WARNING YOU AS A SISTER IN ISLAM WHO FEARS ALLAH, YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME BEFORE YOU RETURN TO YOUR LORD WITH NO ANSWER AS TO WHY YOU ADVOCATED HIJAB AS A BEAUTY SYMBOL TO OTHER MUSLIMAHS.

Mu'adh bin Anas radiallahu anhu reported: Messenger of Allah Sallalahu aleyhi wasselam said, "Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection and before all the creations, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of IMAN he would like to wear." (At-Tirmidhi, Chapter 120. #802 pg 666 Riyah us-Saliheen"excellence of giving up elegant clothes for HUMILITY")

It is reported that ‘Umar b. Al-Khattāb came out one Eid. Passing by a group of women, he could smell the scent of perfume from one of them. He asked, “Who is the one wearing this scent? By Allāh, if I knew who she was, I would do such-and-such (punish her). A women is only to wear perfume for her husband, and if she goes out, she wears her older (scruffier) clothes or the older clothes of her servant.” And so it was rumored amongst the women that the woman [who was wearing perfume in public] got up from that gathering having soiled herself (out of fear).
Ibn Abī Shaybah, Al-Musannaf article 6387.

To proceed,

I am a revert, a Muslimah, a Chinese Canadian who is fighting with my self on a daily basis. Struggling to be the best Muslimah for my Creator. I owe it to Him.
I left my fashion flaunting wonderland for this beautiful religion, Islam. Islam is a religion that promotes everything that is good and forbids all that is evil. Islam emphasizes the importance of MODESTY. Allah has created this religion for mankind for one reason, and one reason alone. It is to WORSHIP HIM, SUBMIT COMPLETELY TO HIM, AND SURRENDER ALL YOUR PERSONAL DESIRES AND TURN TO HIM AND HIM ALONE.
But something is terribly wrong, and I am almost ashamed. I am embarrassed at the amount of Muslimahs in today's society who are giving the Qur'an and Sunnah a bad image. An image which mocks piety, imitates the non-Muslims, and steps beyond the limits of modesty in Islam. I left my fashion-partying-modelling lifestyle in hopes to meet modestly dressed sisters who didn't give into society's distorted image on beauty. But lately, all I see is hijab being misrepresented, misinterpreted, and misused. What has happened to the hijabi ummah of today? This is a disgrace and it is SHAMEFUL. Not only are you disrespecting yourself and offending other Muslimahs, but you are first and foremost disrespecting the Qur'an and Sunnah WHICH MEANS that you are, yes that's right, disrespecting Allah subhanhu wa ta'ala.

Allāh Says:
The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allāh (His Words, the Quran) and His Messenger (Sallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam), to judge between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey." And such are the successful (who will live forever in Paradise).  And whosoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger (Sallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam), fears Allāh, and keeps his duty (to Him), such are the successful ones.

[An-Nur, 24: 51-52]

So hijabi bloggers, do you hear and do you obey?

The amount of hijab blogs listed on google is on the rise. Each day you will see a Muslimah enter into the blogging world trying to surpass the gazillion "Muslimah fashion" blogs out there. Now there is nothing wrong with owning a hijab blog, in fact I highly recommend it BUT......*KEY WORD* BUT, there are some serious limitations and guidelines that we all need to check ourselves with before we start advocating what "hijab" is to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

This has become a problem that needs to constantly be addressed.

It seems these days, many hijabi bloggers incorporate the word "trend", "fashion" , and "beauty" in MANY if not ALL of their blog posts and including pictures of themselves with decked out faces full of makeup and styles too hot to handle on the runway! I really don't understand their mission statement " being modest yet adhering to the rules of Islam" .... Non-Muslims paint their faces like a blank canvas with glitter pens and magic markers, since when did Islam make the haram, halal?

I never knew that the word "hijab" meant "high profile fashionista". Modesty in Islam has become distorted amongst many Muslimahs today, especially the youth and I blame it on all these hijabi blog sites. I am unsure as to what separates their blogs from non-Muslim fashion bloggers except for a piece of cloth shaped like what seems to be a turban, wrapped around their heads astughfurAllah. Must I remind you, the way you promote hijab on your blogs, is unacceptable, immodest, and just plain WRONG!? The saddest part of this whole thing is the amount of blind followers you are receiving.

Your are not helping them out except teaching them everything except what's in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Could you just imagine the heavy weight you are carrying ? It's one thing to be ignorant and not knowing that what you're blogging about is haram, but it is another thing to be COMPLETELY AWARE of what you are blogging about, and not ACCEPT ANY KIND OF CRITICISM from other sisters who are warning you for the sake of Allah. Arrogance and being defensive are signs that you know the truth yet you STILL choose to turn away from it (Please study tafsir of Surah Al-Fatiha). So I suggest you hijabi bloggers, please revisit the Qur'an and Sunnah with a clear, open mind and burn your magazines and delete your fashion bookmarks on your computer. Read about what TRUE MODESTY really is by Sheikh Albani, Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah, & Sheikh Uthaimeen (just to name a few) and don't go on believing what Dubai hijab week or Abu Dhabi fashion week has to say because they HAVE NO CLUE what modesty is!!! If you think the only way you can attract attention to yourselves is by hosting a blog that is unIslamic and promotes beauty and fashion then you need to clean up your intentions and shut down your blog , go on a retreat and educate yourself on Islam and Modesty.

Surely we are in 2012, but that does not mean to hijabify your hijab to acquire to today's era, if you would stop being naive for one minute, and realise just how much fitnah is out there today. Perhaps you should also educate yourself on what the word "fitnah" means and what the ramifications are in result to partaking in it.

May Allah guide all those hijabi bloggers and teach them the correct understanding of what TRUE modesty is so that they can revamp their blogs into the proper Islamic hijab. Ameen

Please, in no way am I being harsh, my sensitive diva's, but I am simply stating the truth from what my own two eyes see. Many people say "well you don't know what their intentions are", again, I would like to remind you that intentions are displayed through actions and actions are governed by intentions. [Ibn Qayyim says : Intention is like the soul, and actions like the body: if the soul leaves the body, the body dies.]
When there is a problem, we need to fix it, especially if I see the Sunnah of the Prophet sallalahu aleyhi wasselam slowly being eaten up by sisters who are too busy satisfying their own nafs and tossing the commands of Allah to the side. HAVE YOU NO SENSE O' MUSLIMAHS? What is so special about the Western culture that you have to adopt their ways ? You want to imitate the oppressed women who are controlled by what the society dictates as "sexy" and "trendy"?

You might as well wear a wig and call it hijab
What has Islam become ? Memorizing what is on page 12 of the November issue of Vogue or memorizing the verses about modesty in the Qur'an?

Firstly, I recommend any newbie who wants to LEARN how to wear the hijab PROPERLY, to google "the meaning of hijab" or, just read below.

“Hijab” in Arabic. If we look at the meaning of the word “Hijab” in the dictionary we learn that the word means “veil”, “screen”, “cover(ing)” or “curtain” (see Al Mawrid: A Modern Arabic English Dictionary, 1992 p. 453).

NOWHERE in the Arabic language or even Wikipedia does it state that "hijab" means : to advertise and promote sexy kitten heels, skinny jeans, hip hugging maxi dresses, Bobbi Brown makeup, fake lashes, and MAC lip gloss.

Secondly, What is the point of the Hijab?

Well, Allah Subhanahu Wa ta'la CLEARLY mentions:

In Surah An-Nur , the VERY FIRST AYAH :

‘[This is] a surah which We have sent down and made [that within it] obligatory and revealed therein verses of clear evidence that you might remember.’ (24:1)

We find the following verse in the SAME SURAH (Chapter) of the Qur'an so therefore it means that THIS following verse is OBLIGATORY and we must act upon it, if we believe in Allah and His messenger (sallahu aleyhi wasselam). I encourage everyone to please click on the link and read the tafsir of ayah 31.

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons or their sisters' sons, or their women or the servants whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex, and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O you Believers, turn you all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.” (Quran 24:31). (for more information, see TAFSIR by IBN KATHIR)

I am no Scholar in tafsir, or a scholar in any matter, but the verse is CLEAR for anybody who knows how to read and again, please

May I also mention, when you say " Allah loves all things beautiful , so we should make beautify ourselves" ....*HUH?* Is that what this verse means? Because women are created beautiful we should beautify ourselves for the creation? PLEASE REVIEW THIS VERSE CAREFULLY. Again, this verse is CLEAR , if you can read.

Guarding our modesty does not mean having a full fledged photo shoot of ourselves decked in H&M or Forever 21's latest trends posing like we are some starving model which is only what the disbelievers do! {"whoever imitates a people, he is one of them."(ahmad, aboo dawood, hasan hadith, authenticated by al-albani in sahih jami` us-sagheer 6025}

As well, we are told NOT to display our beauty or ornaments except what is apparent. I didn't know earrings and glitzy glam-jam jewellery was considered "apparent" parts of women's bodies. Does that also include juicy tube lip glosses and bronzer with blush enhancing our cheek bones?
Has veiling become tight jersey tees that cup the bosom and long maxi dresses that cinch at the waist? I had no idea that high heels underneath the abaya was considered an APPARENT part of the female body?!

Am I missing something? How is it that some Muslimahs are more stylish than some of the top fashion stylists of today? There is something wrong with this.

Can someone please provide aHadith or verses from the Qur'an that show me and the rest of the Muslimahs that it is indeed ok to do what most of the hijabi fashionista queens are sporting today?
As well, please provide proof that it is permissible to modify your hijab similarly to the likes of modified racing cars with leather interior, metal skirts, 20' inch rims, and a full body paint job.

THIRDLY, The Hijabis of today:

We are already warned about the severity of broadcasting our adornments to the entire non-mahram nation. In case we forgot, here is a reminder in bold, italicized, & bright colours :

"In later (generations) of my ummah there will be women who will be dressed but naked. On top of their heads (what looks) like camel humps. They will not enter into paradise or (even) get a smell of it." (Muslim)

Allāh’s Messenger (Sallallāhu `alayhi wasallam) said:

“The best of your women are the affectionate, the fertile, the comforting, and the agreeable – if they fear Allāh. The most evil of your women are those who expose and display themselves, and those who strut (to show off), and they are the hypocrites. Those who enter Paradise are like the red beaked crow.”[Recorded by Al-Baihaqi]

“Any woman who puts on perfume and passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.” (al-Nasaa’i, Tirmidhi: hasan by Albaani)

Hijab is a symbol of your worship and submission to Allāh.
So dear sensitive glamazons, when you are wearing :

- a fashion forward turban on your head
- foundation, bronzer, blush and the whole nine yards
-high heels
- kitten heels that go "click clack clack"
-perfume
- form fitting maxi dresses
- hip hugging, boobie cupping abayas
- fake lashes
- fake nails
- the entire Tiffany's collection on your arms
- the camel hump
- metallic eye shadow
- sticky icky shiny lip gloss
- fishnet
- men's attire
-boyfriend jeans
and anything else that you think is fashionable ....

Remember that Islam and "FASHION", "TREND", "STYLISH" DO NOT GO TOGETHER!

I left the fashion world for a reason. Why are so many sisters trying to imitate the kuffar? Advice, stop watching television, listening to music and spending your money on fashion magazines. It might do you some good yeah?

Please sisters, do yourself a favour and DO NOT imitate all those fashion hijabi bloggers you see in the online world. This is NOT the correct hijab. DO NOT become one of their followers. Follow the Qur'an and Sunnah. Giving into your desires and the temptations of this world is NOT an option. I've been there, done that and look where I ended up? Alhamdulilah I am Muslim. I chose to give up the fashion world for the world of modesty which makes me feel way more beautiful than the next fashion model. Modesty is unique, but every other fashionista is just a try-hard struggling to fit into this world because they don't have their own identity.

Your identity is a Muslimah, so use it and wear it proud because come The Day of Judgement, those hijabi bloggers will not intercede on your behalf. The Day of Judgement, those very same hijabi bloggers will be running away from you and saying they don't want anything to do with you. NOBODY will be your friend. Remember that.

Repost: The Camel's Hump

The Camel's Hump

The Camel's Hump

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu,

I am in the middle of preparing some new material insha'Allah, but in the mean time, I thought that I would share some favourite old posts of mine that I have written. These posts may be new to some of you and may be old my awesome readers masha'Allah, but all in all, it never gets old because the subjects are an ongoing problem in today's society!

Enjoy!

To proceed,

This incredible animal has always marveled me. They can go without water for weeks, without food for a month, their eyelashes help keep the sand out of their eyes, their thick lips allows them to eat prickly plants in the desert, they can withstand high heat, and they store fat in their humps (not water, as many believe). Often we also see travelers and tourists riding on top of the camel's hump.

So why did I choose to talk about the camel's hump?

Often I see a similar hump on the top of some Muslimah's head. I wonder, what is the purpose of putting one's hair into a bun so high even a tall man wouldn't be able to see over her hump! You may chuckle at this thought but it really is disappointing. Lately, the Muslimahs have totally ignored the importance of the hijab and the proper way of wearing one. I am a new Muslim and for me I had to experience much trial and error to wear the hijab the PROPER way. That is, covering ALL of your hair, no high ponytail hump, and no fancy hijab patterns that are hard on the eyes. Is this so difficult to do? I guess for some, yes it is. The whole purpose of the hijab is clearly explained in Surah An-Nur, Verses 30 and 31:

'And Say to the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bossoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim women) (i.e. sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful'

Sisters, do you think that this is mentioned in the Qur'an because Allah just felt like throwing in a verse to fill up space??? AstughfurAllah. Do you disrespect yourself that much to be disrespectful to Allah your Creator? I don't mean to be harsh, but when Muslimahs are disrespecting the Qur'an and the Sunnah, they are also disrespecting me as well as half the Muslimah population who actually want to please their Lord. Are you not afraid of the Hellfire? Is this dunya so important to you that you totally ignore what your Creator has written for you?
Sure, only Allah can judge his servants, and I am not one to judge, but when it is apparent that one wears their hijab in a way that is against the Qur'an and Sunnah does that mean they are pious?

How can one be pious and a weak servant to Allah when it says NOWHERE in the Qur'an that you may wear your hijab showing half of your hair or wearing hijabs with flashy coloured patterns! A woman who wants to wear the hijab with a high hump like a camel will get nowhere near Paradise.
It is stated in Hadith - Sahih Muslim, #6840, Narrated Abu Hurayrah
Allah's Apostle  said: There are two types, amongst the denizens of Hell, I have yet not seen them. One possessing whips like the tail of an ox and they flog people with them. (The second one) the women who would be naked in spite of their being dressed, who are seduced (to wrong paths) and seduce others with their hair high like humps. These women would not get into Paradise and they would not perceive the odour of Paradise, although its fragrance can be perceived from such and such distance (from great distance).

If you are thinking " well, I really want to enter Paradise but I know Allah will forgive me if I repent" or " tomorrow I will wear my hijab the right way, but I'm worried I won't look beautiful".
I've had the many chances and opportunities to "let my hair loose and have fun" but then I stopped caring so much when I realised, what is the point really to beautify myself for others? Why should I beautify myself for people who I will never see in my life ever again? For someone who doesn't even know my name? What is the point of putting all this effort into looking "hot" for society? I'm not even a celebrity! And I even bet you a celebrity would wish they could go out in public without having to put all that garbage on their faces! How nice it would be for them to just go out and be natural without having to worry about their face caught on camera without any makeup.
Then here we are wearing a hijab that barely covers our hair, and modifying our hijabs to look like some Queen of Arabia.
I, who used to be a non-Muslim studying fashion, wanted so badly to fit into society. I wanted everyone to look at me and think "wow what a beautiful girl!" I wanted the attention and the praise of people I knew and didn't know. I knew this was because I had low self-esteem and the only way I would feel happy with myself was if I "modified" my natural beauty to hide the discontentment I had living inside of me. I had nothing else to offer to the world except my beauty.
Make-up? It comes off at the end of the day. Clothes? Does it really matter what the latest trend is when you are pregnant? Accessories? They all will become outdated, hence the word "trend".
The only true identity you have is your hijab. Your hijab represents your religion, your way of life. Your commitment to serving Allah. Your hijab is not something the Western culture has, and will never have. So why are you so obsessed with the West? The worldy life is only temporary and it is a facade. I find it as my duty as a Muslimah to stress the importance of wearing your hijab properly as it is the one thing that the West, or anyone can never take away from you.Your identity.

Remember sisters, the only hump that belongs on the back is of the camels and not your head! We are not animals, we are human beings!
So please, fix your hijab!

I love you all for the sake of Allah, and sometimes, some tough loving' is the reality check we all need.

Ready ?

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu,

A year and a half ago, if I was asked this question I would have answered " What is The Day of Judgement?"

I was so well absorbed into the dunya that the thought of a life after death was, well, not really a thought at all. I always thought that there was life after death, but I thought that after death a new life would start and we would keep being reincarnated into something of an animal or a human being with a better life. As I am writing this, I find myself with a smile as the thought of reincarnation is rather amusing. The thought of a new life beginning on earth after your previous death is a very entertaining thought to say the least! However, I used to think like this, and sadly many people still do.

Life after death? Yes.
But the next life is either in The Gardens of Paradise or in the Hellfire. So which one is it for you? Only Allah knows. You don't even know where you will go but all you can do is prepare for this Day.

Though I just entered into Islam not long ago I already feel the need to up my good deeds and make sure that the scale over-weighs the bad deeds scale. I will tell you this much, though I struggled with different things in my past life, I now have to struggle with new things in my new life. But of course life is nothing but a test and what I like to call a "pit stop". To test us and to keep testing us to see how strong our Deen is and how strong our desire is to meet Our Creator on The Day.

Perhaps if you take everything away from the dunya and put it aside for one minute and just picture yourself on a journey in the desert. You have your camel, the map to your destination, and the pit stops to rest and recover. Along the way you will encounter things that are unnatural and displeasing. You will discover that the weather will not always be to your liking and you may struggle many times during your journey to find a place to sit under the shade to take to a break.

"Know that the life of this world (dunya) is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children… the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment."(Al-Hadid 57:20)

Your journey is exhausting but you keep reminding yourself that the end destination is an island full of pure, sheer beauty. An island where the water is so blue it is almost white from the sun's reflection. An island where there are no worries, nothing unnatural or displeasing. An island where all the inhabitants are of the purest souls and most kind-hearted. An island where you will be taken care of. An island called Paradise.

So would it really be worth it to get lost in the wrong direction?

You're exhausted, struggling to find the food and water that will keep you going, you feel flustered and confused, you are so tempted to just give up on your journey and call it a day. But then you think about the well sought out plan that you had. The plan to arrive at your destination no matter how weak and long it will take, you are not going to give up! Patience and perseverance is what will get you through this journey. Knowing that you are not alone on your journey is your number one motivator. You know that Allah will help guide you as long as you keep seeking refuge in Him and as long as you put all your trust in Him. He will guide you on the right path towards your final destination. Though there will be poisonous animals and heavy rain storms, Allah has told you to ignore everything and continue on because He is waiting for you.
"Verily, the Promise of Allâh is true, let not then this (worldly) present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allâh." (Luqman 31:33)
So, again, would you want to take a shortcut not knowing where it will lead you to? Or would you rather follow the map to your final destination?
Called Paradise.
