Dear Media, and the Ignorant ones.

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa barakatu!

a letter,

Dear Media, and The Ignorant Ones.

I wanted to let you know that I too, used to be just like you. I was without intellect, without common sense, and without a mind of my own. I lacked substance and I was extremely shallow. Everything I saw in the magazines and television, I mimicked. I wanted to be someone that I wasn't. I wanted to hurt others and waste their money on me without even caring or acknowledging.

I used to be just like you.

Unable to think for myself, I would judge those who were religious. I would make fun of them even though I had absolutely NO clue as to what religion was or what it meant. I mocked others and made fun of them because I was insecure with myself. I thought I was above and beyond everyone else and I thought that I was the cream of the crop, the best of the best.

I used to be just like you.

I cared only about what others thought and I sided with the other ignorant ones. I didn't bother to research anything and only kept my mind closed to magazines, television,  fashion, and NEWS. I thought that the material things bought fashion and likeness from others. I thought that making fun of others would elevate my status in my social circle. I was rude, crude, and vulgar. I had no sense of compassion nor did I have a sense of direction in life. I used people for their money and I used people for their company but I never really cared about them.

I used to be just like you.

And now,

I am one of those people whom I used to ridicule, mock, and humiliate. I am one of those who I used to stare at and wonder "what the HECK is that?". I am one of those people who I used to feel sorry for. I am one of those people who I used to talk about to others and make rude comments at. I am one of those people who I used to join groups to be against. I am one of those people who I used to be judge and misunderstand. I am now one of those people who I didn't bother to smile at or talk to. I am now one of those people who I thought were terrorists and evil. I am now one of those people who I had no knowledge of and who I used to pity. I am one of those who I used to watch in the media and scrutinized them and gave them dirty looks in public. I am now one of those who I used to mock , with my friends.  I am now one of those who I used to walk by with my nose in the air thinking I was "it".

I am now a Muslim.
I now have all the respect in the world for practising Muslims who identify themselves by their beards, hijabs, abays, and niqabs. I now know what it feels like to be called "oppressed" when infact I have never felt so FREE in my life. I know now what it means to be truly oppressed when I think about those women dressed in lingere, dancing on tv. I have compassion and sadness for the starving children in Africa and those in Syria, Palestine, and Egypt. I now have more knowledge than some born Muslims on the religion of Islam. I now know who Allah is and what the Qur'an is. I now know the difference between the media and reality. I now understand that a few bad people doesn't mean the entire race, religion, are rotten as well. I now know what a struggle it is to NOT fit into society. I now know the true meaning of sisterhood and friendship. I now know what its like to love one another for the sake of Allah. I now know WHO Allah is and WHAT He wants from us. I now understand the meaning of compassion, kindness, and selflessness. I now know what it's like to feel scrutinized and mocked at. I now know what it feels like to be stared at and being judged. I know what all you ignorant ones know not, and that is WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE BEHIND THE HIJAB, NIQAB, and ABAYA. I know how it feels to feel like a modest princess who shares her beauty only with her Lord, her husband, and her sisters. I know how it feels now to have a family of beautiful sisters who are all wanting the same thing, PEACE AND HOPE FOR HUMANITY. I know now what it means to LOWER MY GAZE and not STARE at others and gawk at them or mutter rude comments under my breath. I know now the meaning of what a Muslim is. I know what the importance is of praying five times a day. I now know how POLLUTED the MEDIA is and how it destroys brain cells. I now have a MIND OF MY OWN and can think for myself. I know the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, and not what the MEDIA dictates. I now refuse to watch television or listen to music because I don't want my mind to be corrupted ever again or polluted with garbage.

I now know who I am.

Dear media, and the ignorant ones.
I am NOT one of you nor will I ever choose to be ever again.

Yours truly,
One Chinese Muslimah.

WHO was Shaykh al-Islam ?

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu!

I am in the middle of writing more posts (insha'Allah!) I promise! I have been just occupied and busy with some different projects and catching up on some reading insha'Allah I will be posting some new material soon! BUT FOR NOW.

We all have heard of him, but who was he? Please read and educate yourselves about who this prolific scholar was in the history of Islam!

Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah
*Please appropriately reference this biography to:, thankyou!*
All praise is for Allaah Lord of the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam), his pure family, his companions and all those who strive to follow in their footsteps till the last day. To preceed :

Many people today accuse some of the greatest scholars of Islaam of blasphemy and kufr (disbelief). One who is frequently attacked is Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah - rahima-hullaah -. In actual fact he is slandered and lied against. People say things about him which he never said... in actual fact things which he was totally against!! These people who do should fear Allaah, and remember that they should be just and judge a man with justice and from knowledge, rather than judging him from ignorance and heresay ! subhaan-Allaah, Ibn Taymiyyah used to strive for the upliftment of the sunnah, and for the defence of this deen from those who in ignorance are changing it. And it was he who led the people to fight the tyrant tartars and it was he who suffered the darkness of the jails of Egypt so that Islaam can be lifted, and it was he who used to pray to Allaah to guide those who are misguided. Therefore let there be a warning to those who blemish his name - a severe warning indeed- that they may not slander him, for a scholar's flesh is poisonous.
Many people accuse Ibn Taymiyyah of Likening Allaah to the creation.....this a big lie and slander...and these people should fear Allaah, and take account of the evil their tongues utter before its too late. Inshaa.-Allaah below are some quotes from the writings of the noble Shaykh which clarifies his position beyond doubt on this issue. And those who after reading this still utter salnder and lies agianst the Shaykh, then all that can be said about them is that they have an illness in their hearts, and we pray to Allaah that He cures them of this disease.

In "al-'Aqeedatul Waasitiyaah " Ibn Taymiyyah - rahima-hullaah - says:

"from faith (eemaan) is acceptance (eemaan) of what Allaah has ascribed Himself in the scripture as well as what the messenger r ascribed to Him. [This creed] prevents any attempts at altering the sacred texts (tahreef), and rules out stripping Allaah of his tributes (ta'teel) or asking questions), concerining their modality ( ..ascribing a "howness", or attempting to understand them analogicaly (tamtheel). Indeed [the ahlus-sunnah] hold that:

There is nothing like unto Him (Allaah); [that] He is the All-Hearing and All-Seeing One (Qur.aan 42:11).
They do not negate what Allaah has attributed Himself, nor do they alter the meaning of His words on these matters, nor subscribe to heretical notions regarding the divine names (asmaa') and manifestations (aayaat). They do NOT (!!!) seek to explain His attributes (sifaat) or COMPARE THEM with those of HIS CREATURES, for He (Allaah) has no namesake (samiy), no equal, no peer (nidd) and, therefore, He, the One free of all imperfections and Most High, does NOT befit of being compared to His creatures."

Ibn Taymiyyah says in at-Tadmuriyyah (p20):

"It is a must to affirm that which Allaah affirms for himself , whilst NEGATING ANY likeness to Him to His craetion..... whoever says His Knowledge is like my knowledge, His Power like my power, or Love like my love, or Pleasure like my pleasure, or Hand like my hand, or istawaa (ascending) like my ascending-- then he has resembled and likened Allaah to His creation. Rather, it is must to affirm (Allaah's Attributes) without any resemblance, and to negate (what Allaah negates for Himself), without ta'teel (divesting Allaah of any of His affirmed Attributes)."

Ibn Taymiyyah wrote in Majmoo-al Fatawaa (5/262):

"Whosoever considers the Attributes of Allaah to be like the attributes of creation- such that the Istawa (Ascending) of Allaah is like the ascending of the creation, or His nuzool (descending) is like the descending of the creation, or other than that-- then he is a DEVIATED INNOVATOR."
So people please read and pay heed to the words of the noble scholar !!!!
This is enough proof for those that are just and who are sincerely seeking the truth ...and Allaah knows best.

Taqi.ud-deen Abul-'Abbaas Ahmad Ibn 'Abdul-Haleem Ibn 'Abdus-Salaam Ibn Taymiyyah al-Harraanee al-Hanbalee, was born on Monday the 10th of Rabi' al-Awwal 66l A.H./22nd of January 1263 C.E. at Harraan (northern Iraq) into a well known family of "mutakallimoon"(theologians). His grandfather, Abu al-Barkat Majd-ud-deen ibn Taymiyyah (d.653 A.H./1255 C.E.) was a reputed teacher of the Hanbaleete school and his "Muntaqa al-Akhbaar (selections of prophetic sayings) which classifies such Ahaadeeth upon which Islaamic legislation is based, is even today regarded as a very valuable work. Likewise, the scholarly achievements of Ibn Taymiyyah's father, Shihaabuddeen 'Abdul-Haleem Ibn Taymiyyah (d.682 A.H./1284 C.E.) were wide spread.

This was the time when the Tataar hordes under Hulagu Khaan were inflicting their barbaric onslaught throughout the world of Islaam - especially the mesopotamium region. Ibn Taymiyyah was only seven when the Tataars launched their attack on Harraan. Consequently, the populace left Harraan to seek refuge elsewhere. Ibn Taymiyyah's family proceeded to Damascus in 667 A.H./1268 C.E. which was then ruled by the Mamlooks of Egypt. It was here that his father delivered sermons from the pulpit of the Umayyad Mosque and was invited to teach Hadeeth in the mosque as well as in the Daarul-Hadeeth 'Assaakuriyyah in Damascus. These discourses were attended by a large number of students as well as by the scholars. Damascus was the center of Islaamic studies at that time, and Ahmad Ibn Taymiyyah followed in the footsteps of his father who was a scholar of Islaamic studies by studying with the great scholars of his time, among them a woman scholar by the name Zaynab bint Makkee who taught him hadeeth.

From his early childhood, Ibn Taymiyyah was an industrious student. He fully acquainted himself with all the secular and religious sciences of his time. He devoted special attention to Arabic literature and gained mastery over grammar and lexicography. Not only did he become an expert on the great Arab grammarian Seebawayh's al-Kitaab which is regarded as the greatest authority on grammar and syntax, but he also pointed out the errors therein. He commanded knowledge of all the prose and poetry then available. Furthermore, he studied the history of both pre Islaamic Arabia and that of the post-Islaamic period. Finally, he learnt mathematics and calligraphy.

As for the religions sciences, Ibn Taymiyyah studied the Qur.aan, Hadeeth and Sharee'ah. He learnt the Hanbalee fiqh (law) from his own father and then became a distinguished representative of the Hanbalee school of law. He is reported to have acquired his knowledge on Hadeeth in Syria like Ibn 'Abduddayaam. Another of his teachers was Shamsuddeen 'Abdurrahmaan al-Maqdisee (d.682 A.H./1283 C.E.).Thus Ibn Taymiyyah received a thorough grounding in the Sihaah Sittah and the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad.
Ibn Taymiyyah had great love for tafseer (Qur.aanic exegesis). He read over a hundred commentaries of the Qur.aan.

He completed his studies when he was a teenager and at age 19 he became a professor of Islaamic studies. Well versed in Qur.aanic studies, Hadeeth, fiqh, theology, Arabic grammar and scholastic theology, etc., he started giving fatwas on religious legal matters without following any of the traditional legal schools, the Hanafee, Maalikee, Shaafi'ee and Hanbalee. He defended the sound prophetic traditions by arguments which, although taken from the Qur.aan and the Sunnah, had hitherto been unfamiliar to people of his time. The freedom of his polemics made him many enemies among the scholars of the traditional Orthodox Schools, who falsely accused him, of all kinds of heretical beliefs. Among them was the famous Muslim medieval traveler, Ibn Batutah, who visited Damascus while Ibn Taymiyyah was in jail. This did not hinder Ibn Batutah in testifying in his book that "he witnessed Ibn Taymiyyah on the pulpit saying, 'every night Allaah descends to the lower heaven like my descent', and he descended one step down the pulpit". From reading this 'aqeedah we learn that Ibn Taymiyyah accepted the attributes of Allaah without questioning (bi-laa kayfa).

When Ibn Taymiyyah lost his father in 682 A.H./1283 C.E. at the age of twenty two, he succeeded at the 'Assaakuriyyah. He began to teach "Tafseer" at the Umayyad mosque and in 695 A.H./1296 C.E. he began to teach at the Hanbaleeyyah in Damascus. Soon he became prominent among the leading scholars of Syria and also became immensely popular with the masses.

The Mongol Threat
In the meanwhile, Iraq, Iran, and Khuraasaan continued to smother under the cruel domination of the Tataars. The Mamlooks who were ruling over Egypt, Syria and the Hijaaz (Arabian peninsula) attempted several times to capture Iraq but failed each time. When it was learnt that the Tataars were planning to conquer Damascus, the Mamlook Sultaan, al-Maalik an-Naasir Muhammad bin Qalawoon left Egypt with a powerful army to check the advance of the Tataars.
The two forces met in a bloody battle in 699 A.H./1299 C.E. but the Sultaan was defeated and he returned to Egypt. Now Damascus lay open before the Tataar forces led by Ghazzaan, also known as Mahmood, the great grandson of Ghengis Khaan. Consequently, all the nobles including the religions scholars, judges, administrators and traders fled from Damascus where total chaos and anarchy held sway in the face of the Tataar invasion.
At this critical moment Ibn Taymiyyah and their remaining notables decided to lead a delegation to meet Ghazzaan and pursue for peace of the city. Accordingly, the delegation led by Ibn Taymiyyah met Ghazzaan at Nabak (near Damascus) and he agreed to grant amnesty to the people of Damascus.
News of the Tataar army advancing towards Syria again reached Damascus in 702 A.H./1303 C.E. Delay in the arrival of Sultaan Qalawoon from Egypt caused panic among the people, many of whom began to abandon their homes for safer places. When Ibn Taymiyyah saw this, he began to urge the people to defend themselves and their city, thereby arresting the exodus. He also went personally to appeal to the Sultaan to speed up his journey to Damascus.
At last the Muslim forces of Egypt and Syria encountered the Tataar forces at Thaqab during Ramadhaan 702 A.H./1303 C.E. and after a bloody conflict the Muslims defeated and dispersed the Tataar armies.

Jihaad Against Heretics
Ibn Taymiyyah's fight was not limited to the Soofees and the people who followed the heretical innovations; in addition, he fought against the Tataars who attacked the Muslim world and almost reached Damascus. The people of Syria sent him to Egypt to urge the Mamlook Sultaan, the Sultaan of Egypt and Syria to lead his troops to Syria to save it from the invading Tataars. When he realized that the Sultaan was hesitant to do what he asked of him, he threatened the Sultaan by saying: "If you turn your back on Syria we will appoint a Sultaan over it who can defend it and enjoy it at the time of peace". He was present at the battle of Shaqhab near Damascus against the Tataars which took place during the fasting month of Ramadhaan and gave a fatwa to the army to break their fast in order to help them against their enemy, as the Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) did during the battle of the liberation of Makkah. The Muslims won the battle against the Tataars and drove them away from Damascus and all Syria. Ibn Taymiyyah's courage was expressed when he went with a delegation of 'ulamaa. to talk to Qazan the Khan of the Tataars to stop his attack on the Muslims. Not one of the 'ulamaa. dared to say anything to him except Ibn Taymiyyah who said: "You claim that you are Muslim and you have with you mu'adhdhins, judges, Imam and Shaykh but you invaded us and reached our country for what? While your father and your grandfather, Hulago, were non-believers, they did not attack the land of Islaam, rather, they promised not to attack and they kept their promise. But you promised and broke your promise."

Once the Tataar threat was eliminated, Ibn Taymiyyah again devoted himself to his mission of his intellectual pursuit and teaching. At the same time, he continued to wageJihaad against the heretical sects like the Baatinites, Ismaa.eelites, Haakimites and Nusayrites living in the hilly tracts of Syria who had invited the Crusaders and the Tataars to invade the Muslim lands, helped these invaders against the Muslims and looted and plundered the weak and defenceless population. Ibn Taymiyyah personally led expeditions against these sects.

Religious Condition Of The Muslims
Apart from the external threats mentioned above, Islaam was also confronted at this time with internal dangers. There were Baatinites (an extremist Sheeite sect which confronted the Muslim Government at that time) and their followers, the Assassins (Hasheeshiyoon). Their creed was a mixture of Magian dogma and Platonic concepts which could easily sow the seeds of intellectual dissension and spread irreligousness and apostasy among the simple minded people. Then there were Muslims who, under the influence of the polytheistic beliefs and customs of the non-Muslims with whom they had free associations, began to glorify their saints (highly pious Soofee personalities - Walee-Allaah) as the Jews and the Christians were doing. Further more, some Soofee's orders like the Rifaa'iyyah had adopted certain neo-Platonic and Hindu doctrines which became so confused with the true Islaamic beliefs that it became almost impossible to distinguish one from the other.

In the wake of crusaders, some Christians were emboldened to censure Islaam and criticise the Prophet in their speeches and writings. In the intellectual circles of the Muslims there was stagnation and rigidity in their theological disputations and in their approach to the re-interpretation of the Sharee'ah. There was continuous polemical wranglings between the 'Asharites and Hanbaleeites. Finally, some of the philosophers, influenced by the theories of Plato and Aristotle, began to spread their agnostic ideas and concepts in total disregard to the teachings of Islaam.

These were the conditions pertaining to the time of Ibn Taymiyyah and which he had to contend. Ibn Taymiyyah formed a society along with his students and followers to renounce the polytheistic cults, un-Islaamic cults, un-Islaamic influences and heretical beliefs and practices among the Muslim masses. As a result of his enthusiastic and zealous reformative activities and condemnation of heresies, un-Islaamic innovation and practices at the visitation of graves of saints, he earned the displeasure of certain sectors of the population. Nonetheless, his popularity among the Muslim masses increased tremendously.

All this jihad against the enemies of Islaam did not help Ibn Taymiyyah with the 'ulamaa.. The authorities put him in jail many times until he died in jail because of his daring and free progressive opinions on many legal and social issues which angered his opponents, the followers of the Orthodox Schools of law.

However when Ibn Taymiyyah had the chance to punish his opponents among the 'ulamaa. who caused him all kinds of trouble and put him in jail many times, he showed the utmost of magnanimity and forgave them when the Sultaan an-Naasir Qalawoon gave him the chance to do so. He said: "If you kill them you will never find 'ulamaa. like them." The Sultaan said: "They harmed you many times and wanted to kill you!" Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Whoever harmed me is absolved, and who harmed the cause of Allaah and His Messenger, Allaah will punish him."

The Muslim historians, like adh-Dhahabee, Ibn Katheer, Ibn al-'Imad al-Hanbalee and many others praised Ibn Taymiyyah and considered him one of the greatest scholars of Islaam of all time.

He fought heretical innovations in religion which were wide spread during his time all over the Muslim world, especially certain acts and beliefs of some Soofee orders, like saint worship and visiting saints' tombs, and throwing themselves in the fire. His attack on the Soofees caused him a lot of trouble with the authorities whose leaders were under the influence of certain soofee leaders.

As a result of Ibn Taymiyyah's popularity, some influential religions scholars became jealous of him and even annoyed because he challenged the Qaadhee's on juridical matters. They therefore sought ways and means to discredit him in the eyes of the Government and the people. Ibn Taymiyyah rejected the teachings expounded in the al-Futuhaat al-Makkah ("the Makkan Revelations") and Fusoos al-Hakeem ("The Mosaic of Wisdom") of Shaykh Muheeuddeen ibn al-'Arabee (d.638 A.H./1240 C.E.) the most respected Soofee and teacher of tasawwuf - as incompatible with the teachings of the Qur.aan and the Sunnah, thereby earning the wrath of the Soofee's, and by being outspoken on Government policies, he earned the hostility of the government. Consequently he was summoned to Egypt in 705 A.H./1305 C.E.

When Ibn Taymiyyah arrived in Egypt, he was asked to attend a meeting of theologians, jurists and the chiefs of the state. During the session certain charges were levelled against him relating to his concepts of the nature and attributes of Allaah. He was not allowed to defend himself and was promptly imprisoned for about 16 months. While in prison, he diverted the attention of his followers from indulgence in frolics and amusements to a sense of piety, discipline and temperance. A number of prisoners became his devoted disciples on their release.

After Ibn Taymiyyah was released from prison in 707 A.H./1307 C.E. he decided to remain in Egypt for a while. Soon he began to deliver lectures in various Mosques and educational institutions before select gatherings of scholars, jurists and theologians. However, Ibn Taymiyyah's views on pantheistic monoism, intercession, etc were not received kindly and numerous complaints were made against him to the Sultaan. The religions scholars to whom the complaints were referred could not find any fault with Ibn Taymiyyah. However, as the administration was growing weary of the charges brought against him, he was detained for a while but was soon released on the unanimous request of the religions scholars. But when Sultaan Qalawoon abdicated in favour of his viceroy Baybaan al-Jashnikeer in 709 A.H./1309 C.E., Ibn Taymiyyah was exiled to Alexandria where, inspite of his internment, he earned himself a respectable position in the Academic and literary circles. Soon though Baybaan abdicated and Sultaan Qalawoon returned to Egypt and ordered Ibn Taymiyyah.

Return To Damascus
In Cairo, Ibn Taymiyyah had busied himself in his teachings and reformative activities for about 3 years. At the same time, he acted as adviser to the Sultaan and was instrumental in having several important reforms introduced in Egypt and Syria. Several royal edicts were issued on his advice in 712 A.H./1312 C.E. He visited Jerusalem in the same year, then went for Hajj (pilgrimage) and eventually returned to Damascus in 713 A.H./1313 C.E. From now onward he devoted his attention primarily to juristic problems though he continued teaching. His chief disciple was ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d.751 A.H./1350 C.E.) who was chiefly responsible for spreading his ideas.

The Question Of Three Talaaq's
Ibn Taymiyyah like his forefathers was a Hanbaleeite and his legal opinions conformed to that school, though not exclusively. He often rejected the Hanbaleeite view just as in some matters he expressed disagreement with all the four principal juridicial schools. One such case in which he differed with them was in regard to the repudiation of one's wife by three divorces given at one time.
The issue was whether a divorce pronounced thrice at the same time took legal effect or not. This issue raised the following considerations:
whether revocation of such a divorce was possible or not. whether the three sentences of divorce would be counted as one revocable pronouncement (talaaq) or taken as an irreversable separation. whether the wife so divorced could return to her husband or not without a halaalah (i.e until his divorced wife was married to another man who, in turn, after the consummation of the marriage, divorces).
All the earlier jurists and traditionalists, likewise a good number of the Prophet's companions were of the view that such a pronouncement, although being repugnant to the law as well as irregular and sinful, would be regarded as an implied divorce with legal effect. As against that Ibn Taymiyyah firmly held the opinion that the three sentences of divorce spoken at the same time should be regarded as one revocable divorce. The view of Ibn Taymiyyah happened to be against the official view which naturally brought him in conflict with the 'ulamaa on one hand and with the government on the other.
Consequently, the theologians tried to prevent him from expressing further legal opinion on such matters. In fact, a royal edict was issued from Cairo in 718AH/1318AD forbidding him from giving legal opinions in such cases.
Initially Ibn Taymiyyah abided by the edict but later again began giving legal judgment on this issue as he decided that it was improper for him to desist simply for fear of the government. As a result in 720 A.H./1320 C.E. he was detained in a citadel for just over five months till he was released on direct orders from Cairo.

The Final Years
Between 721 A.H./1321 C.E. and 726 A.H./1326 C.E. Ibn Taymiyyah devoted himself to teaching in the Madrasah Hanbaleeyyah and his own Madrasah Qassaaseen and revising some of his earlier works. In 726 A.H./1326 C.E. his adversaries again conspired to have him imprisoned. Here he continued writing his exegesis of the Qur.aan as well as treatises and monographs on various issues.
Ibn Taymiyyah died in jail in Damascus on the night of Sunday-Monday 20th Dhul-Qa'dah 728 A.H./26-27 September 1328 C.E. at the age of 67, and is buried in the cemetery of the Soofiyyah in Damascus.
The people of Damascus, who held him in great honor, gave him a splendid funeral and an estimated 200,000 men and 15,000 women attended his funeral. He was buried at the Soofee cemetery in Damascus where his mother was buried.

Character And Achievements
Ibn Taymiyyah occupied a highly honorable place among his contemporary religions scholars due to his prodigious memory, intellectual brilliance, encyclopedic knowledge and dauntless courage. He is described as a great orator, brave and fearless, resolute, disciplined, very pious, resigned and contended, noble and forgiving, just and ever determined.

Ibn Taymiyyah's reformative endeavors and literary pursuits cover a vast field which can be summarised as follows:

1 revival of faith in and adherence to "Tawheed"(oneness of Allaah).
2 eradication of pantheistic beliefs and customs.
3 criticism of philosophy, syllogistic logic and dialects in order to demonstrate the superiority of the Qur.aan and the sunnah.
4 extirpation of un-Islaamic beliefs through refutation of Christianity and Sheeism.
5 rejuvenation of Islaamic thought and its related sciences.

The total number of Ibn Taymiyyah's works is 621 though many of his writings have been lost. Some of Ibn Taymiyyah's writings dealing with the themes are listed below:

1 al-Jawaab as-Saheeh liman baddala Deen al-Maseeh (an answer to the criticism against Islaam by the Christians).
2 Radd 'ala al-Mantiqiyyeen (a refutation of the philosopher).
3 Kitaab as-Siyaasah ash-Shar'iyyah (deals with political theory and government in Islaam).
4 Minhaaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah (a refutation of Sheeite beliefs written in response to Minhaaj al-Karanmah of Ibn al-Mutahhir al-Hillee).
5 Ziyaarah al-Quboor (a criticism of saint-workshop, intercession, superstitious beliefs).
6 Majmoo'at ar-Rasaail al-Kubra (this book contains articles on various subjects).
7 Majmoo'at al-Fataawa (a collection of opinions on various issues).
8 Majmoo'at ar-Rasaail wa al-Masaail (contains articles and legal opinions on various issues).
9 Majmoo'at Shaykh al-Islaam Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah (contains discussion on Islaamic jurisprudence and legal opinions enunciated by Ibn Taymiyyah).

To include in the words of Mawlaana Abu al-Hasan 'Alee Nadawee who has paid a glowing tribute to Ibn Taymiyyah as follows:

"Ibn Taymiyyah interpreted the Qur.aan and Sunnah, established the superiority of Islaam over heresy, Philosophical concepts and other faiths and contributed to a genuine revival of religion after a deep study and deliberation that was necessary for lighting the religions and intellectual waywardness of the time. Seeking to surpass his opponents he mastered the methodology employed by them to attack Islaam. In fact, his learning, his erudition, his intellectual attainment and his mental grit always left his adversaries spell bound"(*1)
Little wonder then that Ibn Taymiyyah's contemporary and succeeding scholars have acclaimed him with such complimentary remarks as "The master spirit of the age", "The crown of scholars", "Last of the Enlightened scholars", and "A sign among the signs of God".

The Future of This Ummah.

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu.....

As she sits on her MacBook in the University library, clicking and clacking away on the keyboard, she looks at her nail polish and realizes the chip and crack on her left pinky finger. She kisses her teeth and utters a word not suitable for her age. A few minutes later, she forgets and continues to type. The more clicking and clacking, the bigger the grin on her face grows. She checks her Facebook and notices a new notification, she thinks to herself "he finally accepted my friend request!" She changes the song she is listening to on her Ipod while she searches the web for fashion hijabi bloggers  to get some inspirations for her current look. She thinks about abandoning the hijab since her mother doesn't wear it anyway. Her brother picks her up with his girlfriend in the front seat and they go to the mall together.......

He comes from a rich family. He finishes talking to his family on Skype and lights a cigarette and calls his girlfriend. She lives in the same building as him on Campus. Before he hangs up with her, he tells her to come to his apartment and cook dinner for him and his friends. Him and his friends spark a joint and smoke some marijuana and get high. They sit and watch music videos while surfing on Facebook adding new random girls to their list. They plan their evening after dinner to go out to their Friday night hot spot at the hottest club in the city. Fast forward, the night ends and him and his friends drunk out of their minds end up in jail for a criminal offence that happened in the club. His family is contacted, he is stripped from his scholarship and deported back to his home, not to mention, he also had to leave his 6 month pregnant girlfriend......

She waits for her father to pick her up from school, an all girls Catholic school. She is waiting for her father to pick her up from school, in her uniform, white blouse, short skirt, no hijab. She was born and raised in North America. Her father calls her and tells her that he will host another holiday party in the evening. Their mansion is the social gathering of the neighbourhood. She wonders if her crush will be at the party and she asks her dad to take her to buy another Carolina Herrera dress. Her parents are both immigrants from a 'Muslim' country and have raised their children with no religion. The family has completely lost sense of all their religious values and their morals are lost as well. Her father finally picks her up and takes her to the most expensive department store in the city while her mother is with the chauffeur shopping for alcoholic beverages to serve at the evening party. Her father answers phone calls from his business partner and wishes him a Happy Hanukkah while she texts her friend to bring the drugs to the party....

So, what do these three scenarios have in common?

Mixing and mingling with men and women like it's nobody's business.
Drinking wine with their meals like nobody is watching.
Laughing and idle talk with music and television like nobody can hear them.
Committing  zina like it is the only way to solve one's problems.

Our children and youth are the future of tomorrow yet WHAT ARE WE DOING TO THEM? Neglecting them and abandoning our natural duties as nurturing parents to raise them up as RIGHTEOUS MUSLIMS!! Instead, parents are chasing the dunya , showing off their wealth, and demoralizing themselves to be JUST LIKE THE KAFIRS. Children are most vulnerable when they are young and absorb EVERYTHING like a sponge, so if they are conditioned to seeing you NOT PRAY, NOT DISPLAY GOOD MANNERS, LISTENING TO MUSIC AND WATCHING TELEVISION then they will mature thinking that this is OK.

What has the future of this Ummah become?
Nothing except carbon copies of Egyptian singers, Princess Amirahs of Saudi Arabia or BOLLYWOOD MANIACS who ALL have followed none other then all the Western slaves of Shaitan. THIS is our current UMMAH and THIS will become the FUTURE of our UMMAH if we do not TURN TO THE QUR'AN AND SUNNAH instead of the remote control !!!

This world will never become a better place so long as we keep falling into the dunya until it eats us up and spits us out into the Hellfire. We wonder where all these immoral acts, immodesty, violence, and corruption ALL STEM FROM? Well, very simple. It starts with the foundation of the household, which would be, THE PARENTS.

Parents have become so consumed by the mentality "make money, work, make money, work, make money" that once they come home from work, they abandon the family and immerse themselves right in front of the television or a fictional novel that takes them far away from reality. The WEST makes everything unnatural seem natural, hence mind controlling every single individual (Muslim or not) to think that this world is all about money, fun & games. Completely brainwashed.

It is all about "enjoy your life", "life is too short, live it to the fullest" , "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" !!!! They are then stripped of their moral values and desensitized of all sense of goodness. The only way to GOODNESS, GOOD MORALS, HARMONY AND PEACE is only through ISLAM.

Islam is the cure for all diseases. Islam is the cure for all hatred, disunity, and corruption. ISLAM IS FOLLOWING THE QUR'AN AND SUNNAH. NO INNOVATION, NO ASSOCIATING PARTNERS WITH THE ONE TRUE CREATOR, NO INVENTED SECTS.

ISLAM IS THE ONLY WAY TO HELP US RAISE GOOD, CLEAN, PURE CHILDREN so that the future Ummah will not become oppressed dicators, HIV spreading prostitutes, uneducated, useless, power hungry Presidents and Kings.

The Western society is going through a BIG BIG CRISIS. They have no more morals left in them and their perception of family & society has become EXTREMELY DISTORTED. They have all abandoned the thoughts and values of a FAMILY as ONE BASIC UNIT. A FOUNDATION. These children then become deprived of parental guidance from where children learn their first lesson of TRUE VALUES of a STRONG loving bond between family and society. The thing that has been raising children in today's society is the television, the maid, and the other children in school who's parents have also abandoned the importance of establishing a strong family bond. Many Muslim families have adopted exactly this. They have even sold their religion for a cheap price for the worldly life. DO YOU KNOW WHY? Because those with weak to NO imaan will go with the masses and the MASSES of today , the masses of 5 years ago, the masses of 10 years ago remains the same, that is, THE MASS OF THE MEDIA.

Try unplugging your television for ONE WHOLE WEEK and you will finally be able to SEE for the first time in your life. YOU will be able to SEE just HOW deluded you truly were and how you lost sight of Allah and chose to submit to your desires instead of to the ONE TRUE CREATOR!!! You want a detox? You want a true body cleanse? Put down the 5 day liquid vegetable cleanses full of filler nonsense, pull the plug to your television, get rid of all the magazines and fiction novels AND learn about YOUR TRUE PURPOSE IN LIFE. LEARN HOW TO CLEAN YOUR HEART AND SOUL THE REAL WAY BY SUBMITTING TO THE ONLY PROVIDER, THE ONLY CREATOR, THE ONE TRUE GOD, ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY THE MOST HIGH! Cleanse yourself the Islamic way and learn how to condition your children with FEAR OF ALLAH in their hearts instead of conditioning them with Disney cartoons and cartoons that will only give your child ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER!

Do yourselves a favour and immerse yourselves with these quotes from the Qur'an and learn just how temporary and deceiving this world really is !!! OPEN YOUR EYES AND TURN OFF THAT TELEVISION. TURN OFF THE NEWS (THAT FEEDS YOU NOTHING BUT HATE AND LIES AGAINST YOUR OWN RELIGION) & start reading the Qur'an and learn the seerah of the Prophet Sallalahu Aleyhi Wasselam.

“And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: ‘Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, and you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers)’” (Quran, Ibraaheem: 22)

“Those who has disbelieved – their wealth and their children will never benefit them anything with Allah. And those are the ones who are the fuel of Hellfire.”
[ali'-Imran, 3: 10]

"Then, as for him who transgresses all bounds, and prefers the life of this world, then surely the hell, that is the abode." ( 79:37-39)

Know that the life of this world (dunya) is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children..the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment." (57:20)

“Rivalry in worldly increase distracts you (from the remembrance of Allah), till you come to the graves” (102: 1-2).

"By time,

Indeed, mankind is in loss,
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience." (103:1-3)

"Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, let not then this (worldly) present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah." (31:33)

"Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to God is the best of the goals (to return to). Say: Shall I give you glad tidings Far better than those? For the righteous are Gardens in nearness to their Lord, with rivers flowing beneath; therein is their eternal home; with companions pure (and holy); and the good pleasure of God. For in God's sight are (all) His servants." (3: 14-15)

"He will say: 'What number of years did you stay on earth?' They will reply: 'We stayed a day or part of a day: but ask those who keep account.' He will say: 'You stayed but a little - if you had only known! Did you think that We had created you in jest, and that you would never be brought back to Us?' " ( 23: 112-115)

“people who buy the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter”. For them Allah decrees: “Their penalty shall not be lightened, nor shall they be helped.” (Surat al-Baqara, 2:86)

“Those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present,, and those who  heed not Our Signs; their abode is the Fire, because of the evil they earned.” (Surah Yunus, 10:7-8)

May Allah open our hearts and minds to the Qur'an and Sunnah and close our hearts far away from this dunya and make the Akhirah the focus of our lives. May He guide the Muslim youth of today and forgive us all for our ignorance and arrogance and increase us in truthfulness and modesty AMEEN AMEEN AMEEN!

May Allah forgive me for anything that I've said that has offended you, anything good I've said is from Allah and anything bad is from my own self and I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan the accursed. Ameen!

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatu,

Sooner or later I would have been addressing this KILLER issue and well, that time has come Insha'Allah.

I wanted to dedicate a post to the sisters (married or not) who think that mixing with NON-MAHRAMS is allowed in Islam.

“… and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons…” [al-Noor 24:31]

Uqba b. Amir reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: “Beware of getting, into the houses and meeting women (in seclusion).” A person from the Ansar said: “Allah’s Messenger, what about the husband’s brother?” Whereupon he said: “The husband’s brother is like death.” [Muslim 26/5400]

Brother in-law is NON-mahram , nor cousins, or fiance's (many people get it confused, but until you are physically married or at least have signed the papers in the Masjid with your witnesses, he is still non-mahram) ! are we clear!?

Ok, to proceed..

If I asked you today, how many NON-MAHRAMS are on your Facebook, & Twitter account what would you answer? " Oh, maybe just 2 or 3, but I don't talk to them anyway" or " Well, I have them on my list because I want them to benefit from my Islamic posts that I share" or " I have a few, because they help me with school work"... AND the list of excuses go on.

If I asked you today, how many NON-MAHRAM friends you 'hang out' with, what would your answer be? " I have a few NON-MAHRAMS I hang out with at school, it's in public anyway so what's the problem?" or " Well, my husband's friend comes over with his wife and we sit together, what's the harm in that?" and of course " It's in my culture to mix with my cousins."

Let us study these HARAM situations which many Muslims have made halal on their very own accord. Subhana'Allah.

Having NON-MAHRAM brothers on your Facebook, Twitter and any other social networking site, is not permissible. This is not a fatwa I have issued by myself ASTUGHFURALLAH, but it is what Allah has ordained for us. Many brothers and sisters these days seem to be making up their own Shari'ah and making excuses for themselves that it is permissible for them to talk to strangers. Many believe that they know what their own intentions are and that they are "strong" enough to resist temptation. I'm sorry, but I really need to L O L at this, because it is absolutely ludicrous in  every shape, size, and form. Since I am a stickler (as best as I can) to always provide proper daleel (proof) from reliable scholars (who are NOT the modern day WESTERN DAEE'S that we all blindly follow thinking they are 'scholars' or 'sheikhs') to back up my points, I have dedicated MORE than enough proofs below: Please take a quick moment to read, absorb, and reflect!

"The look is a poisonous arrow that returns to the heart of the onlooker, striking it and affecting it, or killing it and causing it to die. So none of them should look at what Allah has forbidden. The creation of this look and this eyesight is a blessing, which humans must use for only that which Allah has permitted. He must use them for only those things that Allah has allowed and refrain from using them for those things that Allah has forbidden. Allah says about men: "Tell the believing men to lower their gaze." (An-Nur:30) And He says about women : "And tell the believing women to lower their gaze." (An-Nur:31)  (Sheikh Fawzan pg.7 Advice to the Muslim Woman"

Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: What is the ruling on correspondence between young men and women, if this correspondence is free from immorality and love?
He replied:
It is not permissible for any man to correspond with a woman who is not his mahram, because of the fitnah (temptation) involved in that. A person may think that there is no fitnah, but the Shaytaan will keep trying until he tempts him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded those who heard of the Dajjaal to keep away from him, and said that a man may approach him as a believer, but the Dajjaal will keep trying until he leads him astray.
Correspondence between young men and women involves a great deal of fitnah and danger, so we must avoid it, even though the questioner says that this correspondence is free from immorality and love.
[Fataawa al-Mar’ah, compiled by Muhammad al-Musnad, p. 96.]

“O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allaah), then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner”
[Surah al-Ahzaab chapter 33 verse 32]
If this applies to the MOTHER OF BELIEVERS, our righteous modest role models than what about us?!

Jarir b. 'Abdullah reported: I asked Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) about the sudden glance (that is cast) on the face (of a non-Mahram). He commanded me that I should turn away my eyes.(SAHIH MUSLIM) Book 025, Number 5372

“O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan), then, verily, he commands Al-Fahsha’ [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; and to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam)]. And had it not been for the Grace of Allaah and His Mercy on you, not one of you would ever have been pure from sins. But Allaah purifies (guides to Islam) whom He wills, and Allaah is All-Hearer, All-Knower”
[al-Noor 24:21]

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty...” [24:31]

Question to Shaikh Albani:
Is it permissible for a husband to sit with his friends in the company of his wife? And what are the conditions of that?
Shaikh Al-Albani:
Firstly, Islam does not approve of this kind of gathering because it’s a type of mixing. Secondly, if it is necessary the conditions – of course – are known, but observing them is difficult. So from the conditions is what we mentioned previously:
1. Each one should be covered with the proper Islamic veil, meaning; that she should not be wearing shiny and beautiful clothes which attract attention, as is the case with women in their homes. Also these garments should not be tight or short for example, where it defines the legs or thighs or similar to that.
What’s important is that their clothing contains the conditions of the veil which I mentioned in the introduction to my book: (The veil of the Muslim woman).
2. Add to that – that the conversation in these sittings should contain in it modesty and good manners and dignity so as not to prompt any of those present from the men or women to smile or laugh or giggle.
So if the conversation has these conditions and is found to be necessary, then the sitting is permissible, but I believe that fulfilling these conditions especially in our time is almost impossible.
Sadly, most Muslims today don’t know the Islamic rulings (what is permissible) and (what is not permissible), and those from them who have knowledge of these rulings, very few of them follow and apply these rulings.
So for that I don’t imagine a gathering between relatives which would contain all of these condition, this is something purely imaginary. And for that the matter is as the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said: (…”And between them are unclear matter which many people have no knowledge of, so whoever guards against the unclear matters he will protect his religion and his honor, verily every King has his prohibited land and verily, the prohibited land of Allah is that which he has forbidden.
Verily whoever grazes his Flock around a Sanctuary, he will soon fall in it”). And from this hadith; some people of old times have taken a slang saying: (Distance yourself from evil and sing for it.) This is a slang proverb […] and the second saying: (The one who doesn’t want to see ruined dreams should not sleep between the graves). Like this. (Tape 4 of Silsilat al Huda wan Noor tape) via Aboo Okasha al Maldivee)

As you all can see from the many verses mentioned, even an accidental sudden glance with a NON-MAHRAM can be a GRAND OPENING for dirty Shaitan. Along with modesty, (which I guess you can very well add this into the category) this has become a problem in today's Ummah ! Many Muslimah's have incorporated the Western culture with Islam. Just like FASHION and ISLAM, OIL & WATER, the two DO NOT MIX!

Many people here in the West, (and I am pretty sure there are more scattered around the world astughfurAllah, May Allah guide us all) feel that it is absolutely OK to have gatherings for 4, 6, 8, & 10. What is the purpose of eating dinner with your sister(friend) and her husband? Though we may not think anything of it, we do not know what Shaitan has planned up his dirty sleeve. If one fears Allah, he would not let his wife sit with her sister's husband. It just doesn't make any sense, and to be perfectly honest, a real (ALLAH FEARING) man would not let his wife near any NON-MAHRAM. I read somewhere, that a woman had thought her friend's husband was so handsome and that resulted in her treating her OWN husband in a bad manner because she was thinking about her friend's husband(ASTUGHFURALLAH, AUDHUBILAH)! This sister probably did not know that this would happen, but look! What a GREAT EXAMPLE. When you disregard Allah and His commands, the Shaitan calls his crew and says "lets GO"! Nothing makes Shaitan happier than breaking up a marriage. May Allah protect us from disobedience against Him, AMEEN. I am sure there are plenty more scenarios, but I do not need to delve into them as this example is great enough.

As well, many times we may think we are doing good by following brothers on Facebook or Twitter to seek more knowledge from them, but this is WRONG and can open up many doors for shaitan. I personally know that it has happened to a few sisters already!
"Well there are not many sisters who have knowledgeable things to share" WRONG! If we stop following the hijabi bloggers  and explore the plethora of Muslimah's who have websites full of wonderful Islamic knowledge then we will not need to add these brothers on our Facebook & Twitter correct? The brothers should keep their Facebook STRICTLY for other brothers and us sisters need to keep our Facebook STRICTLY for sisters ONLY!!!!!!!!!

What is the point of having NON-MAHRAMS in our social network? Then we complain that we got into a haram relationship and cry our eyes out over a broken heart when this all could have been avoided in the first place. Close ALL cracks, windows, doors, and traps for Shaitan because he is on the prowl 24/7, 7 days a week, 365 a year. Fear Allah. Fear Allah. Fear Allah. Disobeying Allah is already a big enough sin, but when we think that we can handle every situation on our own, then there is something wrong with our iman & we need to check ourselves!

Could you imagine if your parents found out you were talking to a million NON-MAHRAMS (hee hee and ha-ha'ing away with them?) What would they do? If you fear your parents finding out, then what about ALLAH? He is WATCHING you at ALL TIMES. Is submitting to our desires THAT important that we can't submit to Allah? This is not a million dollar question. It is a simple YES or NO answer. The sad thing is, we all know the answer, yet we still go against Allah.

What has Allah ever done to you that makes you become so disobedient to Him?

I pray that we all gang up on Shaitan and follow Allah and the Prophet (sallalahu aleyhi wasselam) instead of submitting to our desires which, in the end, will not save us from the punishment of the grave, nor the punishment of the Hellfire...The days are getting shorter, and the time is going by faster...and we all know what that means. To Allah we belong and to Him we will return.

May Allah forgive me for anything that I've said that has offended you, anything good I've said is from Allah and anything bad is from my own self and I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan the accursed. Ameen!

What a beautiful man he was (sallalahu aleyhi wasselam)

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu!
Please take a few minutes to watch this beautiful poem.
It is about our beloved Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The most perfect human being who ever set foot on this earth.
And still you ignorant, foolish cowards mock him.
Don't be jealous. You know you wish you could be even a inch like him.
But you will NEVER.

Bodybuilding your DEEN.

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu,

A RE-post of one of my favourite pieces to DATE!
Written in September of last year, it is a great metaphor and truly a piece of reflection for us all. What do you think ? Also ,

To Proceed,

Bodybuilding your DEEN.
When we hear the word "bodybuilding", one may think about Arnold Schwarzenegger or some muscle- induced juicebag (aka. steroid enhanced individual). I often thought about the routine of a bodybuilder and it's similarities to that of a practicing Muslim. Though the two do not coincide for obvious reasons, I was able to compare the two, in terms of similarity of routines to train the mind, body, and soul in order to accomplish a successful reward too great for words.

As a personal trainer, I used to work at a few gyms and was very well immersed in the lifestyle of health and fitness. I wanted to test my limits and try hard to train like a bodybuilder (for women, a very lean and toned figure). My routine constantly consisted of waking up early, training at the gym, training clients while maintaining an extremely strict diet. I would consume less calories than I was burning and I also had to remain mentally fit as well. This was one of the most challenging things I have ever had to endure. Many individuals procrastinate about working out and I would be at the gym 6 times a day and sometimes maybe even twice a day. Training my mind, strengthening my body while trying to better my soul was a hard routine to follow and stick to. I enjoyed this routine as I knew the outcome in the end was that of a rewarding one. I thought that eating, breathing health and fitness was going to help me be a better person, inside and out.

The strict routine of dieting, exercise, and motivating others was a routine that required much focus and determination. I had to first prove to myself that I could accomplish anything and everything before I could help others feel the same mental and physical reward. The importance of helping others feel happy with themselves was always a goal of mine. There is nothing better than the feeling of making someone else see, feel and believe that there is something worth living for, even if its feeling better about one's physical appearance. I, of course thought this was the only way to achieve true happiness at the time. This was before I even knew anything about Islam.

So what do these two completely different things have in common?
Well, for one, the time and effort you put into your routine pays off in the end with a great reward of self gratification and self love. You also train your mind, body, and soul to stick adherently to a routine that you know will benefit you in the future, and lastly you know that if you can help yourself, you can help others feel the same great reward.

To illustrate this to you more clearly, we take the strict routine of dieting and waking up early to train, and compare it to Islam, the beautiful religion. Muslims must wake up early to pray, which helps us strengthen our mind and our souls to be better individuals and to be closer to our Creator. We also must fast as well and we often wake up early to eat our sahoor before we fast. A bodybuilders routine consists of waking up early to exercise hard and eat their meals every three hours.

Also, the constant training of the body helps make you physically stronger and most importantly, mentally strong. Like Islam, the more you pray and the more you train yourself to stick to the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet sallalahu aleyhi wasselam, you will benefit from this routine mentally and physically you will also become stronger. Waking up to fast and pray early in the morning and the late night will become easier as you practice it more (because you will know that you are pleasing Allah and nobody else.)

Also, the ability to train others is very gratifying as humans, innately we want to help people and we often feel a sense of greatness when we know that we are making a difference in someone's life. That is the same with Islam, when we educate ourselves and train ourselves to be better Muslims for the sake of Allah, we innately want to spread the love of Islam to others and help them. We know that spreading the love of Islam will benefit in such a great reward that it is, in words, indescribable. Helping our dear sisters in Islam get closer to Allah for HIS sake and His alone, is the best reward and most gratifying experience, in this life and the next.

In this case, the bodybuilders physique is like a Muslim with Allah.
The amount of time, effort, and dedication spent in working on one's physique is similar to that of a Muslim spending their time, effort, and dedication to please Allah. The harder you work the better you will look, and for a Muslim, the harder you work the closer you will get to Paradise.
The purpose of the strictness of a bodybuilder's routine is to gain mental strength as well as physical strength and the purpose of a Muslim's routine is also to gain mental strength and physical strength. It's not easy to wake up early in the morning (5am depending on the time of prayer) to make wudu (purification before prayer) and pray. I know how many Muslims just wish that the snooze button wouldn't work. We also have to wake up before we pray to eat our sahoor (during the month of Ramadhan and for voluntary fasting), and this is also not an easy task, but in the end it strengthens our mind and bodies all for the sake of Allah

Finally, training individuals to become better individuals mentally and physically is a task that requires constant motivation and knowledge. The more time and effort you put into educating your client, the happier they will become. In Islam, when we spread the love of Islam and help others see the beauty and the benefits of the religion, we feel a sense of overjoy that only Allah knows because we are doing it solely to make Him happy. That is why seeking knowledge, understanding the deen and applying it is very important for a Muslim. When we realise that you don't have to have expensive things or tons of money to be happy, and all you need is the TLC of Allah and you will be the happiest human being alive , than this is the true success of achievement in this worldly life.

Of course, Islam is beyond comparison to that of bodybuilding in the sense of self-love, self gratification, and self fulfillment. A Muslim's strenuous routine is not done to benefit solely themselves, but to please their one true Creator and Him alone. The focus and determination to make it into the highest level of Paradise is one of the most rewarding accomplishment one will yet to experience.

So, if these bodybuilders and trainers treat their bodies like it is their god, and if they are spending hours and hours into their routine to gain the exact same feelings that we Muslims gain, perhaps they should reevaluate their priorities and know that their body's could easily deteriorate in seconds, but the true success of happiness is in the heart and the soul, and this can only be attained through a routine dedicated solely for Allah, the One who put you on this earth in the first place.
