O' CANADA! PROUD 2BE CANADIAN EHH?!

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatu!

I just wanted to dedicate a post to my beloved country. CANADA. ohhh HOW I MISS YOU!
Funny, I must say, it was only since I moved to the US that I realised HOW MUCH I LOVED BEING CANADIAN & also since I became Muslim how much I learnt to appreciate my home country, province, city!!!

Over the past few years, during my non-Muslim days, I never appreciated being a Canadian. I didn't appreciate the diversity that this country holds, especially my city, Toronto. Canada has so much culture and diversity and so much amazing food! Masha'Allah...and it was only this year that I realised just HOW MUCH my city caters to different cultures! Just in my area alone, there are 267 HALAL RESTAURANTS...37 HALAL MARKETS and 57 MOSQUES!!! MASHA'ALLAH! & it's still growing!
AND Toronto, Ontario all together has 954 HALAL RESTAURANTS and 154 MOSQUES & SHOPS combined together!!!! Masha'Allah.

I think I have began to truly appreciate my city & country mainly because I can eat any kind of cuisine and it's HALAL, there are designated liquor stores for LIQUOR ONLY (which means no booze in your local Wal-Mart, grocery stores, and gas stations like the US), we use DEGREES CELSIUS not Farenheit, we use MILK BAGS instead of plastic gallon containers for milk, we use plastic claw ties for our bread and not those annoying twistie tie thingies, you can order delivery from ANY kind of restaurant (not just pizza and fake chinese food), WE HAVE A BLUE BOX (recycling) PROGRAM (which I TOTALLY MISS) !

ALSO, there are SOOO MANY MASJIDS (& MANY SALAFI ONES TOO!), there are SO MANY NIQABI'S and thobies(?sp?), many halal markets, and just the VIBE is totally different. Canada just HAS it more together than US...and even American's can't deny this! I know there are great states that have lots of things catered for Muslims..but at the same time I must admit, outside of the Muslim community, there isn't much culture. It's either you're American or your Spanish and in Canada you are EVERYTHING!!!!!! They have small little regions in different part of the city catered to Koreans, Japanese, Greeks, Italians, Indians, Sri Lankans, Bosnians, Germans, Jamaicans , THE LIST GOES ON!! Masha'Allah!

I'm not so much for the sight seeing since I dont really go out of my house lol and there is WAY too much fitnah for the eyes (even lowering your gaze you might accidently land  on something you DO NOT want to see), and Alhamdulilah my family lives near the Muslim region ! But Subhana'Allah there is actually a Muslim region in EACH part of the city!!! So anywhere you go, you will always see Muslims!! THAT'S CANADA MY HOME BASE!!! But don't get me wrong, I still have a burning desire and passion to make hijrah to Saudi (no women driving, conservatism and all!) insha'Allah.

Well, that is all. Just wanted to share with you my love for Canada and SHOUT OUTS TO ALL MY CANADIAN MUSLIMAHS !!!! WHERE ARE YOU ALL?!!! I AM LOOKING FOR YOU!! Hope you enjoyed my post EH?! (and yes, I do say "eh" lol )... here is a definition from wikipedia ( i use this for non-islamic things only!) of what EH means. Eh (play /ˈ/ or /ˈɛ/) is a spoken interjection in English that is similar in meaning to "Excuse me," "Please repeat that" or "huh?" It is also commonly used as a question tag, i.e., method for inciting a reply, as in "It's nice here, eh?" In North America, it is most commonly associated with Canada and Canadian English.

Here are some lovely pictures of Toronto and all things CANADA! (I do admit though, the only thing I don't miss are the brutal winter storms subhana'ALLAH!!!!)

  4. My mother is Canadian and all her family is Canadian, and yes she told me about the great muslim communities there :). Though she started being a Muslim when it was still a minority there and sometimes people would tell to 'go home' hahah... But she forgave them, they just didn't understand yet at the time :). -Hanna Wilbur-
